It's Diamond Week! Diamond Jewelry at The Solist

Welcome to Diamond Week at The Solist! In this post, we're diving into the world of exquisite diamond jewelry, exploring the 4 C's of diamonds, and highlighting some of our favorite brands: Roberto Coin, Damiani, Piero Milano, and our very own Ina Mar. Whether you're a seasoned jewelry enthusiast or new to the brilliance of diamonds, there's always something to learn about these timeless gems.

The 4 C's of Diamonds

Before we delve into the beauty of specific brands, let's understand the foundation of diamond evaluation: the 4 C's—Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat weight.

1. Cut

The cut of a diamond refers to its proportions, symmetry, and polish. It's not just about the shape (round, princess, emerald, etc.), but also how well the diamond interacts with light. A well-cut diamond will have optimal brightness, fire, and scintillation, making it truly sparkle.

2. Color

Diamonds come in various colors, from colorless to light yellow or brown, with color grades ranging from D (colorless) to Z (light color). The less color a diamond has, the higher its value, as it allows more light to pass through, creating that sought-after sparkle. At The Solist, all diamonds fall into the range of G-H Color.

3. Clarity

Clarity measures the presence of internal characteristics (inclusions) and surface defects (blemishes) in a diamond. The clarity scale ranges from Flawless (no inclusions or blemishes visible under 10x magnification) to Included (inclusions visible to the naked eye). At The Solist, all diamonds fall into the range of VS Clarity.

4. Carat Weight

Carat weight simply refers to how much a diamond weighs. One carat is equal to 200 milligrams. While carat weight affects the size of the diamond, it's important to note that two diamonds of equal weight can have different values based on their cut, color, and clarity.
