Eberhard & Co. was founded in 1887 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. In 1919, the company launched its first chronograph wristwatch and a century later, the Eberhard Traversetolo Automatic Chronograph represents the best of its mechanical timers in an attainable package.

The 316L stainless steel case comes in at a contemporary 43mm in diameter, allowing for an easy view of the chronograph sub-dials. There’s a 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock, 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock, with the central chronograph hand precisely timing 60-second intervals. A date window sits at 3 o’clock and the dial provides some of the most useful complications for a wristwatch.

Oversized Arabic numerals in white contrast well against the black base dial, along with the white leaf-style hands. The hour/minute hands, numerals and indices all have lume for low light. There are sapphire crystals front and back with the latter displaying the Swiss automatic movement with a 46-hour power reserve. The crown screws down and water resistance is rated at 50 meters.

The watch comes with Eberhard’s Box and papers, and ShopWorn’s two-year warranty. This refined and stylish chronograph retails for $5,000, but has a special CEO pick price of $999, which is a phenomenal deal for such a sophisticated Swiss piece.
