The Modern Baume & Mercier Watch Collections
The Modern Baume & Mercier Watch Collections

Proudly offering affordable luxury, Baume & Mercier watches blend high quality with accessible price points. Founded by two brothers, Louis-Victor and Célestin Baume, in 1830 in the Swiss Jura, the Frères Baume company eventually became Baume & Mercier almost a century later in 1918, when Paul Mercier joined the family business.

Adhering to the founders’ motto, “Accept only perfection; only manufacture watches of the highest quality,” Baume & Mercier was not only behind a large number of watchmaking patents but also received the coveted and prestigious “Poinçon de Genève” or Geneva Hallmark in 1919.

Today, the modern Baume & Mercier collection of watches present a range of contemporary timepieces steeped in rich Swiss watchmaking heritage, yet approachable to a wider audience. Let’s find out more about Baume & Mercier’s main collections—Classima, Clifton, Capeland, Linea, and Promesse.

The Classima collection is Baume & Mercier’s line of understated watches for men and women. In fact, matching his and hers Classima watches are great gifts to give to either a couple celebrating a special occasion or to your significant other (complete with one for yourself too!).

With classically-proportioned round cases, slim bezels, clean expansive dials, and practical functions, the Baume & Mercier Classima is a fantastic everyday watch. From steel and leather Classima watches and elegant Classima chronographs for men to rose gold automatic Classima watches and chic two-tone Classima timepieces for women, there’s a little something for almost anyone within this collection. Plus, the value-driven prices of the Baume & Mercier Classima watches are a refreshing change of pace in the luxury Swiss watch arena.

Drawing inspiration from 1950’s style, the modern Baume & Mercier Clifton watches seamlessly merge vintage touches, such as retro Arabic numerals and faceted center hands, with contemporary sensibilities like larger-than-40mm sized cases (for men). What’s more, throw in the option of respected watch functions such as chronographs, moonphases, and day-date features, and you’ve got a wide array of well-made affordable Swiss watches to select from.

And not forgetting the ladies, the women’s Clifton watches may be smaller in proportion but include popular details like diamond dials and beautiful link bracelets.

Yet again we see Baume & Mercier marrying a little bit of old-school charm with current appeal with their line of Capeland sports watches.

Mostly comprising of chronographs, the Capeline collection houses watches with brilliantly technical dials, retro-style chronograph pump pushers, and elegant leather straps. Think 1940’s leather bomber jackets but translated into awesome wristwear.

Baume & Mercier Promesse and Linea

The Promesse and Linea watches from Baume & Mercier are exclusively for the ladies. While the Baume & Mercier Promesse is a direct descendent from a 1970’s watch from the company’s archives, the Baume & Mercier Linea made its debut in the late 1980s.

The focal design point of the Promesse is the unique pairing of an oval bezel placed within a round case along with a broad link bracelet. On the other hand, the Linea stands out for its uninterrupted silhouette thanks to the bracelet integrated into the case, in addition to the hour markers boldly set into the bezel rather than the dial.

Regardless of which Baume & Mercier watch you choose, they all come with the promise of quality, value, and good taste. And that’s something many of us are happy to get on board with.
