Founded in 1911 in La Chaux-de-Fonds by Eugene Blum and Alice Levy, this Swiss luxury watch brand was family owned for several generations with grandson Pierre-Alain even producing watches for Cartier in the 1970’s. The company had since become a subsidiary of luxury conglomerate LVMH, but was sold in 2003 to Movado Group. Today, Ebel offers mostly mid-range luxury watches for both men and women, specializing in classic sports watches with its signature five exposed screws on the bezel (missing one at 3 o’clock for an asymmetrical aesthetic). Although most Ebel watches are stainless steel and accessibly priced, the Beluga line for women has 40 diamonds on the case for a high-end jewelry feel. The 18k gold variant has a white mother-of-pearl dial with 11 additional diamonds. Ebel’s collections use both Swiss automatic and quartz movements.
