Founded in 1861, Erhard Junghans and his brother-in-law began producing watch components such as cases, shields, hinges, and pendulum disks. However, they wouldn’t create their very own watch until 1866. Some 160 years later, Junghans has proven to the world that high quality timepieces and German engineering go hand-in-hand. With the distinguished goal of shaping time itself, Junghans starts the manufacturing process with an inventive, yet traditional design. Each design component is then precisely measured and tested to pass an intense quality control check. Once each part passes with flying colors, they are put together to form a Junghans watch. The Max Bill collection follows Junghans’ watchmaking philosophy by focusing on the essentials. Each piece has a simple dial with crisp markers suitable for everyday use. They are meant to stand the test of time both functionally and aesthetically.
