Founded in 1989 by Barry Cohen, California-based Luminox is a watch manufacturer specializing in affordable sports watches with cutting-edge luminescence (tritium), known as Luminox Light Technology. In 1992, the brand built a line specifically for the Navy SEALs and was soon supplying the Coast Guard, NYPD, Singapore Air Force, Lockheed Martin, and more. Famed survivalist Bear Grylls even partnered with Luminox in 2020, appreciating the outdoor ruggedness of the collections. Today, watches are categorized by air, sea, and land offering pilot’s, dive, and field watches for maximum outdoor versatility. In 2006, Swiss watchmaker Mondaine purchased a fifty percent stake in Luminox, providing it more access to the American market while also giving Luminox a larger presence in Europe and Asia.
